Eight elderly women with a total age greater than 400 years were arrested for prostitution in Taiwan.

The quinquagenarians, aged between 51 and 59, charged between NT$900 (RM94) and NT$2,000 (RM209) for each session.

Forty per cent of the profits went to the salon operator, a 57-year-old woman.

Taichung police said they first detained a 51-year-old woman and a customer during an operation at a motel on Friday, The Liberty Times reported.

The customer told police that he paid the woman NT$2,000 to have sex with him.

Follow-up investigations led police to a hair salon nearby where police believe was the base of the woman running the granny prostitution ring.

"The salon is just a front of the illegal activity," police said, adding they arrested another seven women including the owner at the premises.

Also in the premises during the raid was the grandchild of one of the women.

Police said the 38-year-old customer was shocked to find out the real age of the woman he slept with earlier.

"I blamed myself for being drunk and brought the auntie with me," he told police.
